46 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2022 | "Seize the moment. Remember all those women on the Titanic who waved off the dessert cart." ~ Erma Bombeck Our brunch meeting was sponsored by Russo's Italian Restaurant. Jane Russo made her delicious chocolate chip cannoli. Sally Walsh made a cute vegetable train, and there were many other delicious brunch dishes from members Betty Beidelman, Elaine Kennedy, Pat Kinion, Betty Ferber, Ellie Fawcett, Annah Kreps, Joann McDonald, Connie Reinecker, Barbara Semic, Linn Landers, and our president provided her favorite brunch item, Baileys Irish Cream. We had guest speakers from the Pass Action Group, Jan Flammang and Bob Messier, who updated our members on the current status of the PAG. Mother's Day is fast approaching, it's May 8, in case you needed a reminder. It will be over by the time of our meeting, but our May meeting will be a celebration of all of our members with a Spring Tea. The meeting is on May 27 at 11 am in the South Clubhouse. Mother's Day and food have a lot in common, if you think about it. Mom shouldn't be cooking for the family; instead, she should be enjoying croissants, fruit salad, and brunch mimosas while kicking her feet up and resting (for once). Mother's Day should be all about wonderful cuisine because so many people consider food as a show of love. Being a mother is demanding, and it can feel unappreciated at times. If she has molded you into a caring, determined individual, she did a wonderful job and deserves to be rewarded with something special on Mother's Day. And we send out a huge welcome to our newest members, Patricia Sullivan and Claudia Schwartz. Help us celebrate spring and Mother's Day, be sure and stop by the Main Clubhouse Lobby on the following dates, where we will be selling Nuts on the Run: Wed., May 4 and Fri., May 6 from 11 am to 5 pm; Thurs., May 5 and Sat., May 7 from 11 am to 3 pm. Please support the Happy Cookers fundraiser, we are selling delicious, healthy and affordable nuts - $5 a cone. I don't know what it is about food that our mothers made us, especially when it was something that anyone could make like pancakes, meatloaf, or tuna salad - somehow it carries with it a certain taste of memory. Happy cooking. For information on membership, contact Barbara Elness at (407) 432-8363 or President-Raelene Kretchman, (714) 815-6990. Happy Cookers
