| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2022 | 3 By Marsha Midgett We have survived the ever-changing weather over the past month and look forward to May flowers! Spring is a wonderful time for renewal, not only of the earth and its beauty, but in mind, body and spirit. I hope everyone enjoys this special time of the year. The elections are over, and the 2022/2023 Master Board members have been seated. (As I submit this to Lifestyles, we have not counted the votes.) The Board received the independent audit report and if you have not yet received the results in a packet mailed to you, you will shortly. Sun Lakes was not eligible for any government Covid 19 assistance such as PPP loans over the past two years. The 2021 budget was created on all facilities being open. As we all know, they weren't. The revenue for the restaurant and lounge did not meet the plan. Golf operation revenues were above the plan. With all the unknowns of the year, the auditors complimented the community on the results. Without any financial help during the uncertainty of day-to-day operations, we were able to keep close to the budget for the year. I would like to thank the Board and the FirstService Residential team for their due diligence during 2021 in keeping Sun Lakes financially sound during a time when there were no guidelines to follow on managing a HOA our size during a pandemic. While the amenities we enjoy may not have been open as much as we would have liked in 2021, we did have the opportunity to socialize when we could. As we move further into 2022, we look forward to opening fully and getting back to a more normal way of life in Sun Lakes. With a new executive chef and front of the house manager, the restaurant and lounge should be back to normal operating hours soon. Please look for fun activities on the Veranda as we move into warmer weather. Information will be posted on the website, Good Day Sun Lakes, through email blast and on Channel 97. If you have not yet registered on the new web site, please do so soon so you don't miss out on the fun! The Main Clubhouse pool has been resurfaced and repairs were made to the surrounding deck. Enjoy the "new" pool as summer approaches! The Bunker Project is ongoing, with holes 10-18 complete. Play has now moved to the front nine as the bunkers on holes 1-9 are being renovated. The entire golf course will be opened on plan. Thanks for your patience as the much-needed repairs to the bunkers are being completed. Look for information soon on the Paving Plan. The RV lot will be the first to be slurry coated and lines repainted. While that is taking place, RV owners will be able to park their RVs in front of their homes. This may take two weeks to complete. Designated streets will then be next. If you live on a street that will be resurfaced, you will get notification of the day that impacts you. You will also be able to park on adjacent streets so you have access to your vehicle while surfacing is completed on your street. Life can get a bit hurried and that seems to be no different when driving in Sun Lakes. Please, adhere to the posted speed limits and remind your guests to do the same. The safety of everyone in our community is a high priority for the Board. Thanks for doing your part by following the speed limit guidelines.
