| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | MAY 2022 | 31 Corn hole We are in the process of getting Board approval to form a Cornhole Club. We have 26 couples and 13 singles expressing interest in our project. Our tentative schedule is Board hearing on April 28, membership meeting at the cornhole courts on May 4, and first games on May 11. Our goal is to have fun, socialize, and toss that bag in the hole. Contact Beth Flanagan at (858) 334-9779 or bflana603@gmail.com for additional information. The Four Season Tennis Family was able to gather on Sat., March 26 for the first time in many months. We met for a potluck/ barbecue in The Lodge picnic area; the weather was perfect, and it was great to visit with each other, especially the spouses and guests, and the folks we don't normally play with. It was particularly nice to have our newest members and spouses, folks who are new to Four Seasons, join us and start to get acquainted with everyone. You met some of these folks in last month's article. Each year a player is selected to receive a Spirit Award. This tradition began 10 years ago. Bernadette Koretke had recently lost her favorite tennis partner and husband, Bill, who was a gifted, life long player. He had received a lovely crystal trophy, and Bernadette wondered if the tennis family could somehow make use of the trophy. In honor of Bill's love of tennis and exemplary sportsmanship, we created the Spirit Award. Bill's name is the first one affixed to our trophy plaque. Each awardee keeps the plaque at home until the following year, and we hope they feel proud each time they see it. The award and plaque are presented each year at our annual gathering. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, last year's recipient, Earle Irvine, received the award with only a handful of folks present. This year he made an excellent presentation before our group, to this year's awardee, George Togo. Earle and George and the plaque are pictured here. We love to see new faces on the courts, and hope you can tell we are a friendly group. Please join us any morning you can make it; Mondays and Fridays are more laid back play, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays is a wee bit more competitive tennis. Drop by anytime to introduce yourself and get started playing this terrific sport. Tennis Club Let's play Bocce. It was a little slow getting started and trying to work out the schedule for the amount of teams that signed up, but our schedule wizard worked out all the bugs and we are now keeping track on which teams are making the most points. The one thing that most of the players are interested in is which ball is closer. We did have some interested players after the teams were formed but they have been placed on the substitute list with a phone number available to all the players to reach out to them if they are missing a player. We will continue to add more as requests to be added continues. On Sun., May 29, we will have our BBQ in honor of the Memorial Day holiday and will enjoy hamburgers and hot dogs with side dishes. All Bocce team players are automatically paid up when they paid their activity fee. If you would like to bring your significant other who did not sign up to play but would like to attend the BBQ, it is $3 for the event. I will have a list that will be used to confirm your attendance. We will need the count to order the right amount of food. The BBQ will be scheduled for 2 pm and will be outside at our newly painted BBQ area. Round tables will also be set up for those who need more room to stretch out and relax. You will also need to bring your own drink; all beer and wine must be in a can or a plastic cup, no glass. Watch for our flyer, all information will be on it to remind you about the event. Vintage Voices will be performing a Memorial Program at 5 pm on Sunday so you can enjoy a BBQ and the program to make it a great afternoon. Thank you in advance to all the folks who volunteered to help with the BBQ. ~ Ross Brunetto, Bocce Chairperson (951) 926- 8295 (home phone). Bocce
