| LIFE IN SOLERA | JUNE 2022 | 7 Here are a few tips worth keeping in mind when making your landscape decisions according to the Design Review Guidelines: • All exterior improvements MUST be submitted and approved BEFORE improvements begin. • There must be at least one tree in the front yard and it should be a minimum of 15 gallons and at least 5 feet in height from the top of the dirt in the container. • Front yard landscaping must be 50/50 (softscape - plants, shrubs, turf; hardscape - concrete, brick, masonry, tile, slate, rock, stone, driftwood, wood chips, etc.) Lava rock and white rock are not acceptable. • No front or side yard landscape materials can be installed and maintained in a manner that would interfere with the visual safety of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Corner lots shall be maintained to allow a clear line of sight from the STOP sign in both directions. • More detailed information can be found in the Design Review Guidelines. Design Guidelines can be found on the Solera website under: Publications>Governing Document>Design Guidelines. Design Review Committee I am writing this in May for the June article, as most of you know, and I want to thank the ambassadors and the representatives of our clubs/groups for attending our "Social Gathering" on April 27. I also want to thank all the new residents for attending this event and staying for the "Living in a HOA" presentation. You had great questions and comments. I believe we all learned something new. By knowing the information presented, it makes you a better member of the association and you have a better understanding of how the HOA works. This knowledge can relieve a little stress that living in an HOA for the first time can create, until the processes are explained and understood. So, welcome to Solera! Summer is coming quickly and many of us will invite guests to visit and spend time at the Clubhouse, pool, tennis courts, etc. There are rules and regulations to protect the residents, their guests, and the facilities. The pool does have some restrictions, which must be followed, such as: no one under the age of 16 can use the spa, everyone who enters the pool or spa should step under the shower before entering, children under the age of 16 are allowed to swim between 10 am and 2 pm only, and a resident must remain with their guest in the pool area at all times. There are other pool rules which are posted along with those mentioned, in the pool area. New residents are encouraged and welcomed to join the clubs and groups at all times. Meet new friends and join in the activities Solera has to offer. Also, part of being active in our community includes attending our monthly Open Session Board Meetings. The meetings are held at 6:30 pm on the third Wednesday of each month. These meetings, as well as any other meeting of the Board, are posted on the three bulletin boards, which are located on the wall of the Fitness Center closest to the office; outside of the Clubhouse doors closest to the kitchen or Oakmont Room #1; and in the Mail Room by the door leading to the Clubhouse patio and main parking lot. Thank you to our ambassadors for everything they do in making our new residents feel welcomed to our community. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee
