36 | OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2022 | Bocce Club April was a busy month with training, a tournament, and preparing for our summer activities (check the Bulletin Board courtside). The tournament fans (left) raised pompoms to cheer on the teams. Six 4-person teams started on Monday with the top two teams vying for the championship on Wednesday. A record 21 bocces were scored during the tournament. The Cardinals – John Abdelaziz, Mark Feinman, John Prieskorn, and Anita Simons – won the championship over the Falcons – Joann Bush, Bob Whissel, Isaac Ayzenshteyn, and Gene Alexander. See all the teams in the picture below. Every Wednesday, members get together courtside to play and socialize. Teams form as players arrive and start games. Some come just to socialize with friends courtside. As the games end, everyone joins in the potluck and social hour. If you would like to try bocce, join us any Wednesday with a dish to share and your favorite beverage to join the fun. 224 bocces were scored in April, 60 more than March. Congratulations to Joan Comito who took 1st in Ladies and tied for 2nd Overall. Pat Stansel was 2nd for Ladies and 3rd Overall. Fran Goldstein and Marry Yotter tied for 3rd. John Abdelaziz is first for the Men and Overall. Mike Stansell took 2nd and Al Lipitz was 3rd.
