Swim, Surf & Wellness
Just a few more days until our summer party! We hope many SSW
members will be at the pool on Thurs., June 9. Our "SPLASH INTO
SUMMER" pool party will be a fun-filled event with swim races, food
and socializing.
First, we'll gather at the pool from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. We'll
have a brief demonstration from the Aqua Fitness class. Here's your
chance to see what that is all about. Then… the races. Members
can enter in four categories - freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and
noodle. We want this to be non-stress and lots of fun for all. You can
even decide to join a race on the spot. No pressure! And there will
be prizes, too!
Races will be 25 yards, which is just one length of the pool.
Freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke can be done using snorkels,
swim fins, nose plugs or any other equipment that you normally use
in the water. For the noodle event, grab a noodle and get to the other
end any way you can. Let's have fun!
Then at 12:30 pm, we'll go to Palm Court for pizza, salad, and ice
cream. Hopefully you have already registered and turned in your
check to the Clubhouse desk. What a fun way to meet other Swim
club members and enjoy some time at the pool with friends!
If you neglected to get your check in for the lunch and still want
to attend, we might have a few openings remaining. Contact Robin
Bleeker at rbleeker53@gmail.com to find out.
Our next member meeting will be on Thurs., Sept. 15 at 1:30 pm.
Your SSW board is working on ideas for a speaker, and you'll hear
about our plans in future issues of this magazine as well as in emails
from the club.
Members, do you have experience in creating and maintaining a
website? Your club is looking for someone to help out with the Swim
Surf and Wellness club page on the OHCC website. This job wouldn't
take much time if you know what you're doing! Please contact Robin
Bleeker to get more information about what is involved. Your officers
need help!
You may have overheard or seen one of our club's swim instructors
at the pool recently. Several folks are taking advantage of the club's
offer of FREE SWIM LESSONS. Contact Ken Krueger at k2krueger@
yahoo.com for more information and to discuss what your needs
might be.
Waveriders: Summer weather and a warmer ocean bring more
opportunities for surfing, body boarding, and paddle boarding. Club
member Tim Patel sends email alerts about impromptu wave riding
opportunities. For more information, contact Tim at timpentel@
yahoo.com.
