| OHCC LIVING | JUNE 2022 | 7 INSPIRATION HILL UPDATE The Landscape Committee has now turned its attention to Inspiration Hill and making a few enhancements to add more color to this area, particularly on the lower sections. The barren patch would benefit from adding yellow Gazanias to match those at the very bottom in front of the lower Podocarpus. The variety of Lynn's Variegated Blue Potato Bush that is on the approved plant list, has been identified for planting midway up the slope on the left side. These should provide more color in front of a low growing horizontal tree trunk and fill in the barren areas. Of major concern to the committee is the erosion runoff of gravel on the lower area onto some of the Memorial bricks causing deterioration of the inscriptions. Those that are slightly raised seem to fair better. An assessment may be needed to determine if slightly raising some bricks will provide more protection. As one proceeds further up the hill, there is no irrigation to support planting, further color, or ground cover. Yet at that first open area with another bench, one feels the natural environment is still very inviting to enjoy a meditative atmosphere with the beauty of the native land. Perhaps we don't want the focus there to be on pots or beds of colored flowers, but on those who gave their service to our country; their bricks are decoration enough. Landscape Committee The CIMC has completed or passed along several recent projects this year. We all are looking forward to the reopening of our golf course and the beginning of the planning for our Lanai remodel! Due to these major projects, the CIMC is looking within and is beginning the research into the remodeling of the original Abravanel restrooms and changing rooms, and the updating of the women's front entry hall restroom. Our sub-committee has already done extensive research into what the city requires to rename Leisure Village Way to a more updated street name that would reflect our vibrant community. We look forward to involving our residents' input in this process. As our Clubhouse gets busier, we encourage residents to use our new electronic board in the information hallway to stay apprised of all activities. Though supplies may be limited, the holidays are approaching, and we are searching for new consistent interior holiday decor to compliment our beautiful Clubhouse this holiday season and years beyond. The CIMC continues to work with clubs and committees. We work closely with the BOD and the HOA to enhance and improve our community image and ensure the consistency of our message. The committee welcomes all residents' observations and comments. The barren patches above are where yellow Gazanias will be planted Lynn's Variegated Potato Bush
