FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2022 41 The club has screenings on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. We screen films you won't find at the big cineplexes: documentaries, indie films, foreign films and other little gems that don't get wide release. Please note: we will have only one screening in June as our second screening date falls on the same night as an Amphitheater concert. Our sole screening for the month, on Sunday, June 12 at 6 pm, is the film Pavarotti (UK 2019, 1 hr. 54 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "This film by Academy Award winner Ron Howard celebrates the life, works, and achievements of opera legend Luciano Pavarotti." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theater has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter Culture Cinema Club or want to recommend a film, please email Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@gmail.com. ~ Micki Rosen Counter Culture Cinema Club Classic Film Group Who doesn't love a good mystery/thriller film? Come to The Lodge Theater on June 28 at 6 pm for the Alfred Hitchcock classic Sabotage. He proves again that he knows how to combine espionage with humor, mixed with tension. This thriller centers on the operator of a local cinema who also works with a group of saboteurs and hides his secret life from his wife and brother-in-law. A ring of saboteurs is wreaking havoc in London with a series of explosive terrorist attacks. Karl Verloc (Oscar Homolka) is part of the group, but he maintains a cover as a kind movie-theater owner. His wife (Sylvia Sidney) is beginning to suspect something, though, and so is Scotland Yard Detective Sgt. Ted Spencer (John Loder). What neither of them know, however, is that Verloc uses his wife's little brother (Desmond Tester) to deliver the bombs in film canisters. This is a sensational thriller that unravels masterfully and you, the viewer, discover with the wife, her husband's evil motives. The visuals and tension are second to none. It's engaging and perfectly directed — a must-see early Hitchcock. ~ Paul Plamondon, 4seasonsmoviegroup@gmail.com
