FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2022 63 Well, SURPRISE! SURPRISE! The refurbishment work on our Horseshoe venue has been completed. The boards outlining each of the four pits were refurbished (turned over I think). Additional material has been added to each pit to our specifications. Now, that's what we requested. However, the maintenance individual realized that the backboards also needed to be painted and he did that as well. Now, that gentleman's hand I do want to shake and thank him, which I will do. So, we have a like new venue to play on with a view second to none at the Summit. We have eight to 10 players each week that get to enjoy playing our favorite sport at the most beautiful spot in Four Seasons. Come on out and join us. Fun and enjoyment guaranteed. Our contacts are Ron Erickson at (951) 846-3288, rejlerickson@ sbcglobal.net or Gary Christie at (951) 845-0520, goldtoy@earthlink. net. ~ Ron Erikson Horseshoe Club TOPS Heather Boyd of Sunrise Pilates was our guest speaker last month. She shared ideas about what Pilates is and is not. She gave away prizes and explained her in-person classes and website app. We are continuing with our marbles- in-the-jar contest. It is a group effort. Every time members lose weight, they ring a bell (a time of cheers, clapping, and rejoicing ensues) and move a marble into a jar. The jar is about half full at this time. We are slowly, but surely, working on this complex problem. Weight loss is not an easy thing for most of us. Eating is an important part of our biology and our social life. When was the last event you attended where food was not served or eaten soon after? We had a salad party last month with each of us bringing one or two chopped ingredients. We filled pint and quart jars with layers of the healthy items topping each jar with spinach and leafy greens. The jars were sealed and then eaten in the next three to four days as a main dish or a side salad. It was really nice to have this "instant" salad handy in the refrigerator. We vowed to do this activity quarterly. The Thinner Winners for the month were Andi Henderson, Sue Hilberg, and Nyla Chelly. Congratulations, folks. You may find that a group like TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) can help you as well. We meet on Tuesday at 8:30 am in the Ballroom. For more information call Andi Henderson (918) 497-6491. ~ Andi Henderson Bocce Club We play at The Summit on two courts overlooking the surrounding valley with beautiful views. With more people playing and good turnouts, we are adding another day to our schedule. We will now play on Thursdays at 5 pm in addition to the normal Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 am. Hopefully, we'll see you out there having some fun. If you are interested in learning the game, please join us.
