54 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2022 This month we are spotlighting one of Tails and Trails dedicated members, Lynne Kelly Cook. She has been a resident with her family at Four Seasons since October of 2014. Lynne spent her early years in Astoria, N.Y. where, surprisingly, she had no pets. Her family relocated to Newbury Park, Calif. when Lynne was a teenager. Prior to moving to Four Seasons at Beaumont, Lynne resided in Simi Valley. In 1986, she finally got her first dog, a Pomeranian she called Tabitha. From that point on, Lynne has happily brought many dogs into her family. She has had all shapes and sizes of pets, from a Chihuahua to a Great Dane and even some Arabian horses, at one time. She is one of the original members of our community Dog Owners Group. Lynne is a founding member of the Tails and Trails Group and currently serves on its Steering Committee. She has been and continues to be an integral part of recovering and rescuing lost or missing pets in Four Seasons. She is very adept at handling our pet rescue equipment. This currently includes three traps of various sizes, six pet carriers, leashes, and rescue kits. The group also has vests that Tails and Trails members wear when tracking lost animals and reflective triangles to place on the street for safety purposes. Here are some important tips to help keep your pets safe. Be sure your pets are chipped and that your contact information is always updated. Place a collar on your pet with their name and your phone number. Don't leave pets unattended in your front or backyard. Keep your garage door closed. To quote Lynne, "It's both exhilarating and rewarding to know you are helping a scared, tired, and hungry pet, to be humanely trapped and realizing you played a part in recovering them safely, and hopefully, returning them home to their family." We are indeed grateful to have volunteers like Lynne in our community. If you need help with a missing pet, please call The Lodge immediately. Also, contact Tails and Trails at (951) 663-7012. ~ Vivian Walker, vivr@sbcglobal.net Tails & Trails - All Pets
