62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2022 June is named after Juno, the goddess of youth. The birth flower for June is the rose. Let's all show our youth by being active physically and not forget to be mentally active as well. Shuffleboard is a perfect activity to enjoy outdoors while being physically active. It is an easy game to learn and become proficient at fairly quickly. The Board of Directors has approved the final phase of work on the four new shuffleboard courts and we are anxiously awaiting the start of this work. This process is taking longer than expected so I am hopeful that we will be able to play on the new courts soon. We play every Monday and Saturday morning. By the time you are reading this article, we should have changed our start time to 8 am instead of 9 am because of the warmer weather. We play at the existing shuffleboard courts at The Lodge for now but will start playing on the new courts as soon as the construction is completed. Our games usually last an hour or a little longer. We have a great group of residents who play regularly and of course everyone else is welcome to join in and become part of the shuffleboard family. We choose different teams each time we play in order to keep the competition challenging and the games interesting. We play for fun, but everyone likes to win. After your morning coffee and/or breakfast, come out and join us. Get some fresh air and a little exercise while socializing with other fellow residents. Typically, play time is about 45 minutes. Not only is it a gentle sport, but it's a great way to meet some new people and to challenge your hand-eye coordination. We have extra putters and balls if you would like to give it a try. If you have questions, please call me at (951) 845-5192. ~ Susan Wilson I finally got to go fishing after all this time. The only problem is I didn't catch anything. I used to make fun of people that did not catch fish. They told me that they just went for fun. I said I have fun when I am catching fish. Now I know what they were talking about. But to tell the truth, I still have more fun when I'm catching fish. The weather has been really crazy and the fishing has really been lousy lately. I can't remember how long it has been that I haven't caught a fish. We took a couple of pictures of my fishing buddies catching fish, but the fish were so small you really couldn't see them in the pictures. I am going ocean fishing this month. My buddy Tim chartered a fishing boat out of San Diego. We are going with professional fishermen so we should catch something. Lately, all I caught was a cold. Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember to have fun whether you are catching fish or just soaking bait. ~ Richard Carrasco Fishing Club
