46 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2022 | "I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food." ~ WC Fields Be sure to attend the June meeting. It is a wine tasting and food paring event! There will be a discussion on wines and tours. You will have an opportunity to purchase some of the delicious wines as well. You won't want to miss this fun event at the June Meeting on Fri., June 14, 11 am to 12 pm. Masia de la Vinya Winery out of Temecula will be our guest speaker. If you didn't attend our last meeting, you missed out on a noteworthy time with our Earth Day celebration. The members were entertained and educated with a video tour by Wendy Ditchfield of her very charming garden. We also received gardening tips from Pat Pennington, of the Garden Club's Garden of Eat'um. We want to give a special thank you for filming the video to Bob Murri and our new Web/Videographer Hernan Rojas (FirstService Residential). Members participated in a door prize drawing and received one of the following prizes: four succulent plants, two bags of vegetables and fruits, two Easter bunnies with See's chocolate eggs and cashews from our fundraiser, 'Nuts on the Run.' A very special thank you to our Hospitality Chair, Ginny De Bry for supplying the members with her delicious homemade sugar cookies in honor of Earth Day. Thank you to all who supported our fundraiser, Nuts on The Run; we hope you enjoyed them. June is busting out all over, and the summer allows us our really enjoy outdoor dining, whether it be barbecuing or just serving your guests a delicious meal outdoors. I don't know about you, but outdoor dining has set the scene for many of my family's more memorable meals. There's nothing quite like light lunches basking in the summer sun, or being bundled up in blankets with a glass of wine and a hearty meal under the stars. However, taking dinner from the dining room to the patio doesn't mean you should lower your aesthetic standards, so be sure to put as much care and attention into your dining table and surroundings as you would for any other hosted meal. The key to outdoor dining is to view your garden as an extension of the kitchen or living room and style your patio accordingly. Most of all, let your creative juices flow and have fun with it.
