FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2022 61 Summer is here and the heat is back, so come to the Billiards Room for a fun game of pool in an air-conditioned room. We have added a few new players to our roster and still have room for more. If you are interested in joining us, we play on Tuesdays from 11 am to 1 pm and a second session is from 1 to 3 pm. So, this article will include April and May tournament results. We practice on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30 until 9 pm. We hold a meeting on the first Wednesday of the month, an 8-Ball tournament on the second Wednesday of the month, and a 9-Ball tournament on the fourth Wednesday of the month. We are looking forward to June to again be playing two additional 8-Ball tournaments with Solera Oak Valley (1615 Fairway Drive, Beaumont, 92223) — one there on the second Monday of the month, and one here on the fourth Monday of the month. In the April 8-Ball tournament Leo Babin sent Larry Rice to the loser bracket only to meet him again in the loser bracket where Larry advanced to meet Doug Strenger in the finals. Larry was able to win the two matches for a hard-fought victory. In the April 9-Ball tournament Larry Rice matched up again with Doug Strenger. Larry was able to, again, come away with the win. In the May 8-Ball tournament Larry Rice met Leo Babin in the semifinals. Larry sent Leo to the loser bracket only to have Leo return in the finals. Larry was able to come away with the victory. In the May 9-Ball tournament, Larry Rice went undefeated to meet up with John Johnson for the finals. John won the first match to put in place a final match for the championship. Larry was able again to come up with a win in the final match. I am pretty sure one of the Four Seasons-8 Ball Club members will put an end to Larry's run of wins in the coming month. Congratulations to Doug Stenger who was runner-up in April's 8-Ball and 9-Ball tournaments. Congratulations both to Leo Babin who was May's 8-Ball runner up and to John Johnson who was runner-up in May's 9-Ball tournament. Whether you're new to the game or have played before, don't be shy – stop by, pick up a stick, and give us a try. Walk in and ask for Del, Larry, or any of the members who are playing. The 8-Ball Club is always looking for new members who would like to learn and play pool to join us. There is a calendar of our events in the Billiards Room on the 8-Ball Club bulletin board. Come join the Curly Cues in the Billiards Room on Mondays at 10 am. We are finished by noon, so that gives you plenty of time to enjoy your other activities. We took a little break last month, but we're back. The Fashion Show in June was so much fun. A huge thank you to members of our always awesome Social Committee! They always do such a great job. Several of the Curly Cues attended and we thought it was a great opportunity for a photo outside of the Billiards Room. We were missing one of our attending members because she was busy working behind the scenes at the show. Thank you Joyce Tautrim! Come to The Lodge next week and join us.
