FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2022 17 In the past, Neighborhood Watch has provided speakers from Waste Management regarding the types of things that should go in each waste can. As some confusion still exists, we are publishing the suggestions from their website. For further clarification check their website. To stay informed, attend our second Wednesday meetings in the Ballroom at 10 am. What items and materials are not recyclable? Non-recyclable materials should be placed in your standard trash receptacles. Be certain that your trash cans, containers, bins, or carts are not overloaded and that their lids can close all the way. Typically, items below cannot be recycled via curbside recycling programs. • Plastic bags (these can often be returned to a local grocery store) • Ceramic dishes, cups and glassware • Juice boxes/juice pouches • Foam cups or packing materials • Windows, mirrors, sheet glass • What is organic or green waste? Organic or green waste refers to biodegradable items made of natural materials. Items included in this category include: • All meat, bones, dairy, and eggshells • Bread, rice, beans, and pasta • Coffee grounds, filters, tea leaves, and bags • Food-soiled paper containers • Fruits, vegetables, and leftovers • Paper towels, plates, napkins, and cups • Shredded paper contained in paper bags • Waxed paper cartons (milk, ice cream, juice, etc.) • Yard trimmings, such as: Branches and twigs Flowers, weeds and roots Leaves, grass and plant clippings Uncoated wood and chips ~ Andrea Henderson, harryandi70@rocketmail.com Neighborhood Watch & Community Awareness The Four Seasons Neighborhood Watch Steering Committee met on June 3 and several important issues were discussed. It has been brought to our attention that some residents are feeding the coyotes that are roaming inside Four Seasons. Coyotes, like the bobcats, mountain lions, and other smaller animals and reptiles that are living or passing through Four Seasons are WILDLIFE, and should NEVER be treated as domesticated creatures! Feeding these wild animals will change their natural hunting behaviors significantly, and will encourage them to approach people for food and could lead to aggressive behaviors that could bring harm to humans and our pets. We need to let them remain wild, and not dependent on humans for their existence. In the wild, they are naturally wary of humans, but when they are fed by us, they will no longer have that natural fear and will become more and more aggressive. Please do not leave food out for any wild creatures, keep your trash cans covered, and do not feed your pets outdoors. We know many of you have bird feeders in your yards, but even those will attract rodents. Rodents are prey for larger wild animals, so they will attract coyotes and bobcats to your yard as well. We want to keep all of our residents safe, and we want to keep our wildlife wild as well. Thank you! ~ Donna Gilbreth, NHW Steering Committe BE COYOTE AWARE A pair of coyotes in Four Seasons.
