FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2022 43 I am starting to sound like a broken record here… it was another beautiful morning in the neighborhood for our June Cars & Coffee gathering. The sun was shining bright on all the beautiful rides. We had over 40 cars and their proud owners in attendance. The classic Corvettes and Mustangs were well represented along with some stout looking 4 x 4s, muscle cars, and hot rods. Rudy Serar rumbled in with his black 1930 Ford Roadster. Rudy built this hot rod himself and has owned it for eight years. Gilbert Morales arrived with his white 2015 Dodge R/T Challenger, powered by a 5.7 liter V8. Gilbert has owned his MOPAR since new. The Four Seasons Fourth of July Classic Car, Motorcycle, and 4x4 Parade will be staging at 10 am Monday morning at The Lodge parking lot. This is open to ALL years cars and trucks, so decorate your ride with patriotic decorations. We will be heading out at 11 am. The Lakes Senior Living Facility had a Father's Day Car and Bike show and several of our group participated. I will have a more detailed writing next month on this event. The 2022 Veterans Day Car Show will be Nov. 12. Additional information will be posted later. Cars & Coffee is a gathering for people who love cars, trucks, and motorcycles, all years, makes, and models from classics to the newest, both foreign and domestic. Or if you just want to look, you are more than welcome to mingle with other car enthusiasts. Please join us the first Saturday of the month at 9 am in The Lodge parking lot. Our next meeting will be July 2. We hope to see you there. For more information, please contact Rick Morales at (951) 797-3782 or onemth53@yahoo.com or Frank Morales at (951) 203-4578 or fmoralesjrinc@aol.com. Until next month, I hope all the fathers had a Happy Father's Day. ~ Frank Morales Cars & Coffee Our Book Club selection for July 12 is A Land Remembered by Patrick Smith. Here is a brief description from Amazon.com: "In this best-selling novel, Patrick Smith tells the story of three generations of the MacIveys, a Florida family who battle the hardships of the frontier to rise from a dirt-poor Cracker life to the wealth and standing of real estate tycoons. The story opens in 1858, when Tobias MacIvey arrives in the Florida wilderness to start a new life with his wife and infant son, and ends two generations later in 1968 with Solomon MacIvey, who realizes that the land has been exploited far beyond human need. The sweeping story that emerges is a rich, rugged Florida history featuring a memorable cast of crusty, indomitable Crackers battling wild animals, rustlers, Confederate deserters, mosquitoes, starvation, hurricanes, and freezes to carve a kingdom out of the swamp. But their most formidable adversary turns out to be greed, including finally their own. Love and tenderness are here too: the hopes and passions of each new generation, friendships with the persecuted Blacks and Indians, and respect for the land and its wildlife." Our meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 am in RCN room #3, and someone volunteers to lead the discussion about the book we have chosen for the month.
