FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2022 9
By Jerry Monahan, Board President
A Mandatory Settlement Conference occurred on June 1 and
there has been a discussion, but there is no information available for
publication at this time.
There was a meeting of the Pass Action Group (PAG) on June 5 at
Sun Lakes. It was open to Four Seasons and Sun Lakes residents as
well as other interested parties from Banning and Beaumont. Many
of our residents attended and participated in the question-and-
answer period.
During the presentation, the PAG representatives said that the
Mandatory Settlement Conference on June 1 was attended by
attorneys from the city of Banning, the developer, and the PAG
representatives. The areas of discussion and any potential settlement
offers are confidential as of this writing.
On June 20, a scheduled Status Conference was set at the Superior
Court in Riverside. This Status Conference will set the briefing
schedule and the administrative record set by the Judge. More
information on the follow up on proceeding will be available after the
June 20 Status Conference.
AB2840 was discussed and, if passed by both the House and Senate
of California, it would require a 1,000 foot buffer zone between
residential homes and other sensitive areas, such as The Lakes
Assisted Living Facility. It was mentioned that there is nowhere
near 1,000 feet between the warehouse project and The Lakes, which
would be a problem for the developer. This has not been finalized by
the Senate, and would still require the Governor of California to sign
into law.
Sun Lakes is moving to have Banning City Council person Mary
Hamlin recalled from office. Currently they have more than the
required signatures, but have until mid-July to submit the recall
petitions to the city of Banning before going to the Registrar of Voters.
Several other districts in Banning are planning or are in the process
to recall other council members. These recalls, if successful, could
change the political climate in Banning and how replacement council
members may view warehouses and their approval.
