| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2022 | 15 Sun Lakes Committee Reports Golf Advisory Golf operations have been one of the few bright spots at Sun Lakes as we navigated our way through the COVID pandemic. The Pro Shop is generating monthly revenue streams that consistently exceed plan projections. This is due to an increase in the rounds of play and sale of merchandise. Since the arrival of Brian Garlington our Director of Golf the Pro Shop underwent a renovation and restocking with new appealing merchandise that has contributed to this success. The Pro Shop is open to all residents whether you are a golfer or not. You owe it to yourself to stop by and check out the nice merchandise available. In addition to the operation of the Pro Shop and Driving Range the Pro Staff is essential to many of our golf activities. These activities range from golf clinics, club demo days, to conducting Pass Putters. Brian has been responsible for introducing the Golf Ready Program for new golfers, setting up the Golf Genius for tournament pairings/ scoring, and the iGolf club trade-in-day where you can receive book credit for your old golf clubs. For all they do to make Sun Lakes a wonderful place to live, thank you to Brian and his staff: Alex Bidelman, Brian Tucker, Jessica Dejeu, Zachary Ribera, Mark Carr, and Geoff Perkins. Safety Advisory Our parking violations have increased again. This is primarily due to renters, guests, or caregivers not getting the correct passes or posting them on the dash incorrectly. Obtaining proper passes and knowing how to display the pass is critical to avoid fines. There have been more concerns lately about people letting their back yards get out of hand. This is especially concerning when they have fruit trees and the rodents start to come over in the next door neighbors' yards. If necessary, call planning and compliance. ~ Bill Bess, (951) 769-8022 The Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Committee is comprised of volunteer residents with varied skill sets and business backgrounds. Together we research, collaborate, and brainstorm. Our focus is always on making SLCC more enjoyable for all of us while enhancing revenue to our own restaurant & lounge. We are looking for an addition to our committee, if you have food industry or related experience that you'd like to share to enhance and aid in creating the best service and dining experience for our members and their guests. Pick up an Interest Form in the Main Clubhouse lobby, fill it out and return it to the reception desk. WOW! July got here so fast. It's going to be a SPECTACULAR month. No time to hesitate, put this number in your cell phone or next to your home phone for easy access to SLCC reservations: (951) 769 6654. "Every day, the date changes, you change, then why is your routine the same, the old, the not-so-exciting? Change it, too." Come out and enjoy all the fun entertainment here at Sun Lakes. Calendars are helpful, so are reservations. Get yours in early. Rock your red, white, and blue! Independence Day calls for us to remember the true meaning behind the holiday. In the Spirit of Sun Lakes, come celebrate with our all-inclusive meal. 1000 APOLOGIES FOR LAST MONTHS MENU ERROR. THIS IS FOR REAL. Anyone can make a hot dog but our Chef Chris wanted to offer us something special. Enjoy fancy pulled pork or grilled chicken, with all the fix ins, including Chef 's incomparably delicious Eight- Hour Baked Beans and Sun Lakes own hand-made chips, incredibly crunchy and Ohhh SOOO good. This meal is just $17 (all inclusive). It's a spectacular way to celebrate America's birthday. Are you ready for those "HOT HOT HOT! AUGUST NIGHTS?" Burst your boredom and keep your passion alive in August because summer is not going anywhere soon. Yet, there's a lot you can do. Enjoy spending time with friends on the Veranda, check out the new Happy Hour menu, and yes, you can now enjoy service at the pool. Order "The Passion" cocktail from Matt our incredibly talented mixologist (barkeep). If you haven't met Matt already, introduce yourself. Matt was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, before moving to the U.S. As a teen, he was a semi-pro soccer player. He also played cricket, golf, and rugby. Matt and his daughter live locally, and he has enjoyed joining our SLCC family. Now, just a little August nostalgia: Neil Diamond's epic album first performed at the Greek Theatre Aug. 24, 1972, brought the term "Hot August Night" to international attention. It's a goofy pop song with a melodramatic, hymn-like feeling. I can't repeat it enough: your comments are welcome. All of them, good or bad, let us know your thoughts and opinions. We can't help if we don't know. Fill out those comment cards or talk to one of us directly. For those of you who don't know what a Yeoman is, it's a word used to describe someone who can do and pitches in to do it all. Our Thomas has been doing a Yeoman's job helping wherever help is needed. COVID shut down, post COVID insufficient wait staff, no Chef for a while and so many more setbacks. Thank you, Thomas, from all of us. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
