| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2022 | 3 Summertime at Sun Lakes is upon us and there are many exciting activities you can enjoy this summer. The annual Fourth of July Parade will be held on Mon., July 4. This year's theme is America – Red, White and Blue. The Recreation Department will once again put on our annual parade with decorated carts, floats, and classic cars followed by a great BBQ, games and contests. This is one of the best events of the year and you do not want to miss it. Music under the Stars, Evenings on the Veranda, and other events have already begun. Music lovers can't say that Sun Lakes does not give them something to enjoy. The Main Clubhouse Pool has been renovated and poolside service returned in June. Club and group events are in full swing throughout the summer. Check out the articles and notifications in the following pages to join a club or group. We are pleased to report that the Billiards Room has been outfitted with 10 new spectator chairs. The new chairs are a big hit with the eight-ball group and are a great addition to our Main Clubhouse. You have probably noticed the increase in the cost of food this year. Our restaurant has also been significantly impacted by the rising cost of food. Thomas and Chef Chris have changed the menu selection with some requisite price increases. The new menu was launched on June 14. The Board wants to thank Ajit Desai for his comprehensive restaurant survey. The survey determined the need for menu change and improved ambiance in the restaurant, both of which have been accomplished by the Restaurant & Lounge Committee, chaired by Victoria Simanton. Please come and enjoy the improvements. The Board thanks all the Sun Lakes residents who stepped forward and volunteered for our new committees. The new Contract Committee has been filled with the following volunteers: Del Andrus, Larry Davis, Barbara Delgato-Jesus, Raynell English, Robert Hix, Al Jaszcar, and Anthony Peters. The Finance Advisory Committee has been filled by the following volunteers: Gino Demonaco, Dorrie Gartze, Howard Katz, Mary Jo McElwain, Ron Mitchell, and Sharon Robinson. The 3 pm Open Board Session was well attended and most residents appreciated the earlier time schedule. After receiving requests from our District Delegates, we returned to having garage door checks from eight to midnight. Remember to always keep your doors locked and garage doors closed. Some residents requested to walk alone or with their pets on the golf courses at night — this is prohibited. Do not walk your pets on the golf courses. It is a violation of Rules and Regulations 5.02 (4) which states that pets are not permitted on the golf courses. It is also very dangerous and could lead to injuries and legal action against our HOA. A new communication procedure called "Message to Management" has been implemented. On your web page, a platform titled Message to Management can be found on the top right section where you can email any concern you have directly to our General Manager or his assistant Jason Ewals. You will receive a timely response to your concerns. The new Board is focused upon enhancing the operations, appearances, and the overall amenities of our beautiful community. With the addition of our new committees and procedures, we may be able to accomplish these objectives. "Craziness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result." ~ Tom Demarco From the Master Board
