Couples Golf
On May 29, what was supposed to be a fine sunny day started out
as on over-cast cold as balls morning! (Golf balls of course.) As you
can see by the photo this group of dedicated couples (below) will let
nothing deter them. To help thaw us out and warm the cockles of
our hearts we started out with coffee at the pro-shop followed by a
game of "Couples best ball." Score one net best ball for each couple
on each hole and then add the two couples score for the team score.
It sounds confusing but you get used to it! First place winners (with
no help from Gary Little ) was Bill and Kari Steinwart, and Gary and
Sherri Little. Second place winners were Jim Close, Mary Wilke, and
Richard and Even Montague. Congratulations!
On June 5, the weather was a bit more cooperative with sunshine
and slight breeze. Perfect for a day of couples golf! The game was
"Jack and Jill." Both players fro each couple tee off. From this point
they choose the best ball and then hit alternate shots untiled holed
out. Player whose ball was not chosen after the second shot will play
the third shot. Deduct half the combined handicaps and then add to
couples score the team total. First place was a flat-out tie between
Ray and LaWanda Roberson, Bob Palmer with Patsy Green AND Jeff
Ranieri, his Mom Wanda Ranieri and Gary and Sherri Little. Wanda
putted so well our mantra became "putt it like Wanda" (and you
should).
The "couples" of the couples golf club can be married, friends,
married and friends, married and enemies, just friends, or just
enemies. If you don't have a golf partner we will find you one. All you
need is a love for golf and a few hours on Sunday mornings. Come
join us, you'll be glad you did.
