28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2022 | Sew What? Club We had the most pleasant surprise in May, when we found out one of our former crafty ladies was returning to Sun Lakes after moving away eight months ago. Turns out, she just couldn't bear being away from us and Hobby Lobby. Debbie Brown was a member of our Paper Crafting group for several years. Welcome back, Debbie. During May's Make 'N Take project, which was the construction of unique necklaces of fabric yo-yos and bling, I noticed the room was literally buzzing with chatter and camaraderie as we focused on our individual creations. People wandered around the room to get a better look at what others were doing. Our group is so friendly and fun. We have yet to decide what our next project will be but there have been several suggestions. One idea is to create a beautiful vessel to hold flowers, or pencils and pens, or anything else you have that might require a container. Due to the massive selection of designs available, we are loving the idea of using napkins to transfer the art onto glass, or some other surface, to repurpose a jar that might otherwise end up in the trash. I find myself purchasing certain jars of condiments, not for the contents, but for the unusual shape and size of the containers they are in. We celebrated the two June birthday ladies with the usual pomp and circumstance in our Clubhouse restaurant. It's one more thing to look forward to every month. We continue to meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 1 to 3 pm. Our July meeting schedule is as follows: Tues., July 5, and Mondays, July 18 and 25. Our July birthday luncheon will be on Thurs., July 14. Watch for notification in your emails. Please contact either Elaine Perkins at (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768 for more information. There is no fee to join.
