| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2022 | 57 The Point Poem By Oskar (blog) With upward palm I take good care To toss the ball And slice the air. It clears the net To his backhand side. He pushes long And really wide. But on the fall I do no wrong. Brushing the ball, My topspin's strong. He now retreats And counter-drives. My footwork fails As the ball arrives. I fish it out It curves and screams. And he doesn't look ready, Or so it seems. He's winding up, Target is locked. He tries to smash, I try to block. And up it goes way over head. Running backwards, My shot is dead. I lob it up, Couldn't be higher. His return is quick, The ball's on fire. Spinning fast And kicking clean. But my backhand push Is like a dream. Kissing the net, The ball is wide. Opponent fumbles, And is almost denied. He's chopping back And moving in. His wild eyes crazy, Like I shouldn't win. I lunge and I twist, Just gripping the blade. But I hit the killer. The point is made! Regularly scheduled play days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Table Tennis/Ping Pong We just entered our third week of summer league bowling. The first week we had eighteen teams but two teams dropped out. Our 16 teams just entered our fourth week. This is a really fun league all are having fun and we love the competition. It is too early to give season high scores but we do have three teams running away from the group. The Brooklyn Bombers are in first place with Loose Pins And Optimist being a close second. If you would like to join our league or start bowling in our fall and winter league please call Teri at (760) 217-9656. Bowling is for people who have talent to spare.
