HOA STAFF PROFILE
Dennis Brown, Handyman
By Joanne Deacon
Dennis Brown: Handyman extraordinaire,
always willing to help a resident, the popcorn
man on movie nights, adds a few dance
steps to our musical events, and shares his
home with six women. What a guy!
In Dennis' words…
As many of you know, my name is Dennis
Brown. I have worked for The Colony for
more than 20 years. I am the longest working
employee at The Colony as well as in the
Maintenance Department. I am married
to my beautiful wife, Terry, for 43 years. We
have three daughters, five granddaughters,
one grandson and five and a half ( one on
the way!) great-granddaughters.
I am number six of 10 children. I grew up
in Perris, CA. My family is one of the first
black families in Perris. The Dora Nelson
African American Art & History Museum
on 7th Street in Perris is named after my
great-grandmother. When I graduated high
school, I worked for the City of Perris for
23 ½ years until I was promoted to Public
Works Manager. After retiring from the City
of Perris and still working for The Colony, I
went to work for the City of Ontario for 10
years as a Utility Technician.
In my leisure time, I enjoy gardening and
taking care of my 100 gorgeous rose bushes in
my backyard as well as singing, dancing, and
helping my Colony residents. I also enjoy
traveling when I get a chance and cooking.
My favorite dish to make is my famous
potato salad. My mantra for life is to "Just
keep moving and pushing forward!"
