July brings thoughts of red, white and blue, parades, fireworks, picnics and barbecues along with HOT weather, but our Social Club ladies kept cool while they worked diligently to make this 4th of July special in every way. Although I'm not privy to what the entertainment or music will be, I do know Francisco will be busy on the patio grills - barbecuing hamburgers and hot dogs to waylay our hunger pangs while we are having fun, maybe even dancing? We only have two smaller events booked for July as compared to eight events last month, so it's a real slowdown compared to June! Francisco planned to test a couple of recipes from suggestions you gave us. The first one was a hamburger on parmesan crusted sourdough bread, and the second was a stir-fry with noodles which is vegetarian, but he could also do it with a meat. As of this writing, he is looking for the proper noodles. So if you have a hunger for something, please let us know, he loves doing new things. Lately, we are getting requests for more vegetarian food choices. Please remember, many things on the menu can be prepared without meat, just mention it to the waitress. The same goes for Gluten free. Any other ideas, tell us what you want? Keep them coming! Francisco requested that I mention to all of you about how much he appreciates your business and your trust in him, especially through the past rough times we have survived. I am such a big advocate of people volunteering, I decided to do something outside of our compound. Lifestream Blood Bank opened a new facility on Florida Ave. near Staples on June 6. It's not as big as they could use, but it's new, nearby and very friendly. I suggest you make an appointment, do the paperwork prior to your appointment time on your computer, and head over to checkout the facility. You never know whose life you might save with your donation. I always think I feel more energized while my body is making me new blood to replenish that which was given. Our lucky winner for free Sunday Brunch for Two was drawn by recently retired Board member, Greg Rockvam. He pulled the slip with the name "Eileen Smith" on it. Now, last but not least, our treasured and long- time Bistro employee Debi found a happy reason to change her last name on May 21, right outside on our patio. The weather was perfect, it was a sweet wedding and she was (as you can see by the photo) a very happy and beautiful bride. Francisco, as always, satisfied us with delicious feast at her reception. She promised to continue working and we will hold her to that statement because she would sorely be missed! All the best to you, Debi and Robert, from all of us at Four Seasons.
