18 18 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2022 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2022 | Team Sunshine "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Kindness Award: Recently, Rick Ruth, General Manager, was observed committing an act of kindness for one of our residents. For that, Team Sunshine recognized him with a Kindness Award at our June meeting. One of our Sunshiners accompanied this resident to talk with Rick about a troubling situation. Rick took the time to listen and then reassure this lady that all would be worked out and would be okay. She was quite upset and crying, and he sat talking with her until she felt much less stressed. His calm demeanor and willingness to listen put her at ease; our Sunshiner felt Rick went above and beyond his formal duties to assist this resident. We are sure many of you often witness acts of kindness here in our community. When you do, please stop by The Lodge front desk and fill out a Kindness card. Sunshine will take it from there and set things in motion to recognize this person or persons. Health Fair: Team Sunshine was excited to sponsor the first, full- scale, post-pandemic Health Fair on May 26 (photos below, left). The Ballroom was filled with a wide variety of vendors, some new and some old friends. Many residents took the opportunity to get their second COVID booster followed by a yummy lunch. Well, it was a hot dog, potato salad and chips, but it was FREE! Celebrations of Life: On May 31, Team Sunshine helped Sharon Blaettler's son host a lovely celebration of her life with many fond tributes from her friends here in Four Seasons. The family of Lee Harper, with the assistance of Sunshine, held a celebration of his amazing life on Fri., June 10. Wynelle O'Quinn's family celebrated her life on Sat., June 18. We have also received word of the passing of Nancy Holt, Ernestine Kulyk, Rodney Watkins, Samuel Natenson, Sheryl Weller, and Larry Campbell. Our team has reached out to these families to extend our condolences and offer our assistance. Sunshine attempts to reach as many of our residents as possible when they need comfort or cheering. If you have a neighbor or friend in Four Seasons who may be dealing with a recent injury, or lingering illness, has suffered the loss of a family member or is feeling blue, we ask that you let us know. A pleasantly unexpected card or phone call can do much to brighten someone's day. Prayer Requests: For those wishing prayer, a request box is in the Multipurpose Room. Prayer cards are provided. If you are interested in joining the prayer group, please call Marietta Ruppaner. How to contact Team Sunshine: Caring Connection cards with details of Team Sunshine's services are available at The Lodge. You may also call Co-Chairs Brenda Beers at (951) 306-6670 or Margie Culton at (951) 491-4058. Closing Thoughts: "There is a wisdom of the head, and… a wisdom of the heart." ~ Charles Dickens
