The Lounge Night was a huge hit, thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the band and the perfect weather on the back patio. Men's Night was a success with all our gentlemen attendees leaving with a belly full of nachos and their favorite drinks. Even our volunteers have been having fun with these high paced events. We are always looking for new volunteers to join our group. Volunteering at an event is a great way to have fun and meet new people. Be sure to check the flyer rack located in The Lodge and the events section of the website for all our upcoming events. I am always on the lookout for entertainers and fun new events. If you have a recommendation for an event or entertainer, please share your thoughts with me at teri.collett@seabreezemgmt.com. Lifestyle Report By Teri Collett By Daniel Mendez, Chairperson, EPAC When we reach a certain age, our biggest fear is falling, and even a small step may seem treacherous. If visitors have to take a step up from your front entry to your home, you can give them extra support by installing a hand rail outside your door. It doesn't have to be expensive. You can buy a d-style handle, which would normally be used on a drawer. Attach the handle to the door frame, with the handle going up and down. Screw it right into the frame at a height of three in a half to four feet. Avoid tripping hazards in your home by removing floor mats and carpets that are not tacked down. Pick up anything that falls to the floor. Even a small item such as a sock can become a tripping hazard. I have a "grabber" that I use to pick up items from the floor without bending over and I can use it to reach high items without a step stool. You can order one from Amazon or Walmart. Additionally, make it a habit to wipe up spills or ice cubes that fall to the ground and will later leave a puddle. Speaking of wet floors, you do have handles to hold on to in your shower, don't you? The key here is to install handles before you fall. If you have elderly people who visit you regularly they will appreciate your concern for their safety as well. Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPAC) GET A HANDLE ON THINGS
