FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2022 29 Finance Committee During the Finance Committee's June meeting, the financial statements for May 2022 were reviewed and recommended for Board approval. In addition, the Committee reviewed 11 expenditure proposals and reviewed investment recommendations to move maturing investments to higher yield FDIC insured instruments. Highlights of the May financial statement are: Total Cash is $11,534,831 including operating cash of $2,298,032 (checking and CDs) and reserve assets of $9,236,799. We are at a total year-to-date net income of $240,247. Homeowners are welcome to join us at the Finance Committee's regularly-scheduled monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting will be Tues., Aug. 30 at 1 pm. I would encourage all residents to become more familiar with the finances of our fantastic community. We would love to hear about your concerns and encourage you to share them with us. Attending a meeting only takes a little time and will give you a better understanding of how we operate. Come and join us in making this a thriving vibrant community. Please check your Daily Report for meeting location. ~ Jolene Cooley, joleneaudit@gmail.com Facilities Committee Social Committee At our last meeting, we voted to accept a bid from Prestige Cart Mart for a maintenance cart. Prestige was the lowest bid. We also approved a bid for a replacement ping pong table. We are reviewing bids for differing applications of stain/epoxy for the front of The Lodge entrance. We will be working with the Landscape Committee for the repurpose of the old fountain in the far back area of The Lodge. We are also reviewing items that will have to be addressed in 2023. The Facilities Committee meets the second Wednesday of the month at 9 am. ~ Gino Domico, Gdomico@gmail.com We are excited to announce our New Year's Eve party on Friday, Dec. 31. Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 29 at 9 am in the Ballroom. If they don't sell out, we'll be offering tickets on Dec. 3 at 5 pm in The Lodge lobby. Ticket price is $65 per person. He's an energetic Master of Ceremonies and disc jockey who loves to engage with all the guests. There will also be contests, games, and lots of dancing. Tickets will sell fast. If you are buying a table for eight, you must have everyone's name and address. ~ Loretta Ramsey, (714) 803- 6744, lorettaramsey@aol.com Landscape Committee Brown lawns! I'm sure by now you are seeing the effects of the Beaumont Cherry Valley Water District's (BCVWD) restrictions effective as of June 16, 2022. Unfortunately, we all must do our part to adhere to those guidelines and that means our landscaping is not going to be as green and luscious as we would like. The Landscape Committee, FirstService, and Park West engaged BCVWD to help come up with solutions while adhering to the new rules. As of this writing, these discussions are ongoing, but the good news is that the water district is willing to work with us to help find solutions. When I first came to look at Four Seasons I was impressed by how green and lovely the landscaping looked. I'm sure many of you had the same impression. We are probably going to have to get used to seeing brown lawns and stressed plants for the duration of the drought. We are considering options on what can be done with the resources we have — both financial and water wise. We are also challenged with replacing dead or dying plants with drought- tolerant native plants as those plants need additional water for at least two years to get them established. Once they are established the water can be reduced. When we have cooler weather in the fall, you will see some new plantings to fill in some of the bare spots in the FYCC and common areas and we will strive to use plants that have the best chance of survival given the water restrictions. We are always looking for new committee members to join our team. We meet most Friday mornings and walk different areas of the community to look at plants to determine if any need extra maintenance or replacement. If you like to walk and enjoy looking at our plants and trees, please feel free to join us on a weekly walk. Contact Shannon Shelton or Kathryn Hughes of FirstService to find out where we are meeting on Friday morning as meeting places change weekly. Residents are also welcome to attend our monthly meetings which are every third Tuesday of the month at 1 pm in the RCN. ~ Brenda Steckler, brendasteckler@gmail.com
