32 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2022 Answered prayers. Well, I wasn't exactly praying, but I did start out last month's article with a plea for help. When I end each monthly column with a request for sharing the app or apps you like, it is truly because I'm interested in your likes and dislikes. And, of course, it frees me from having to come up with an idea for at least a month. So, lo and behold, Rhonda Louden came up with so many apps I'm turning this month's article entirely over to her (text in blue)… Cloud Library — use your library card in this app and download ebooks for free. I have read dozens of books from here. It has all the bells and whistles of apps like Audible and Nook. Some of the newer bestsellers will be waitlisted but I just go ahead and reserve knowing I will get it eventually. The original time period is two weeks but you are able to extend. Plugshare — we have an electric vehicle, not a Tesla, and this app does a great job of locating charging stations and providing the information on each station as well as if they are available. Our charging app for our car does the same thing but Plugshare also has the social media component that allows users to rate and make comments. Like "the chargers were a little hard to find because they were at the east side of the building. I wouldn't want to use them at night — a little sketchy area" Tricky Bridge — I wanted to re-learn bridge and I found this fun little app that uses an amusing but effective setup to get you through the basics. Chilis and Chipotle — we use both of these food ordering apps and we think the process is pretty simple and straightforward. Flightradar24 — my husband loves this app. He has a lot of interest in the planes flying overhead and enjoys satisfying his curiosity about what is flying where. Pencil sketch — I had an application where I needed a pencil sketch of a photo and found this app. There are many choices from different levels of intensity of the pencil sketch to watercolor and colored pencil versions of a photo. I used it to make a wall hanging of beloved family photos so that they would all be pencil sketches. iExit — We have a fifth wheel and love to take road trips. This app is great for looking ahead at what restaurants or gas stations or even stores are at each exit. Our truck takes diesel so it helps to be able to search for diesel stations and the prices so we can plan ahead for where we will fuel up. Spectrum — We think the spectrum app for live TV is excellent although it would also be nice if we could watch our recorded programs on the road as well as live tv. what3words — I have a feeling you have reviewed this one but I'm too lazy to check. I think the concept is brilliant. I initially was skeptical that there would be enough combinations of three words to pinpoint locations everywhere, but the original article I read reassured me. "construction.fleet.mailing" here in my office. Wow. Thank you, Rhonda. You've shown us the many varied ways apps can enhance our lives. But wait. This just in from long-time contributor Elizabeth Westbrook. She has two suggestions… GetYourGuide - Since traveling has picked up, maybe you can remind the readers on this app: Get Your Guide; peruse things to do when traveling. I have this on my radar for when we go to London next year for easy access to tickets for sightseeing. iVisa - I can easily keep track of my [passport and visa] applications. I wished I had downloaded this app before applying. Their website was great too. If you use an app you'd like to share with others, let me know at steve.benoff@verizon.net. THERE'S AN APP FOR THAT! Help Me Rhonda Yeah!
