58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2022 It has been said that ping pong is a sport where you spend 10 percent of your time hitting a ping pong ball and 90 percent of your time chasing the ball around the room. There may be some truth to that but what certainly is true is that the 10 percent of the time you spend hitting the ping pong ball is so much fun that you don't mind spending 90 percent of the time chasing the ball around the room. Pete Antoine, Soo Lee, Lian Lee, Niles Sundstrom, Jeannine Baker, Mitch Harmon, Julie Dobos, Lorenzo Thomas, Kathie Sundstrom, and Rob Kelman (all pictured below) will testify to that truth. Come join us and find out what makes 10 percent of a sport so much fun. We play ping pong Mondays through Saturdays from 2 to 4 pm. Jim Wong offers free lessons for all levels of players on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1 pm. Want more information? Gino retired as a police Lieutenant from the Glendora Police Department after serving on the force for many years. Maggie worked as a Clerical Assistant and retired from the Claremont Unified School District. The first activity they wanted to try was Pickleball. They joined the Pickleball group within a few months of moving here. Jerry Stone (a previous neighbor) taught them the fundamentals and they took off from there. Pickleball quickly became one of their favorite activities. Maggie said, "The Pickleball group has welcomed us with open arms and really made us feel like we belong and are part of a special family. All the players are warm, welcoming, and a lot of fun to play with." Maggie has since joined the Steering Committee as Treasurer and enjoys being involved in the workings of the group. Our group instructors, Nancy and Jerome, are always willing to spend time teaching the sport. Come take a look and talk to some of our players. We play Monday through Friday from 7 to 11 am.
