| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2022 | 27 Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but quilts are worth thousands of stitches! Featured here are just a few of our members' many imaginative creations. Our first Club project of the the BoHo Heart Quilt is nearing completion, with two of them pictured: Raenell Pope's and Diane Best's. Diane quilted Raenell's on her Gammill Long Arm, choosing the stitch patterns together. As Diane will often say, "It's not a Quilt until it's quilted!" Also pictured is "A Heart of a Different Beat" created by Jeanette Ramos. Pieced entirely of half- square triangles, (or HST's) Jeanette's choice of colors and placement result in a stunning work of art. The theme for our next project will be the precise use of paper- piecing, where points meet straight lines with the accuracy of an architect's drawing ruler. No other method displays such precision results. Pat Spurgeon's paper-pieced Beach Houses was a 'challenge' from a Friendship Group to make something with houses. (Even the ocean waves and grains of sand are placed precisely!) Brilliant starbursts of color, creating a kaleidoscope effect, showcase perfect points and seams when the method of paper-piecing is properly utilized. Henrietta Dorner shows off her many quilting skills with designs of bags, purses, and table runners; fun projects which can be completed in an afternoon. August will kick off our new hours for sewing together from 10 am to 4 pm, with the welcomed habit of breaking bread together in the Bistro midday. This has become a favorite tradition we all look forward to, and now with extended hours, we gather our second wind to continue sewing and creating. Also this month, we will be joining the Ladies Club in the Ballroom on Tues., Aug. 16 from 2 to 4 pm for their celebration of a Country Fair. This event is open to all Four Seasons residents. Come check out what other Social Clubs are up to! The SoCal Summer Quilt Run began on July 14 and on Thurs., July 21 Seasons Quilters traveled to three of the participating stores. Beginning with Between Stitches in Old Town Temecula, we then traveled south to Quilter's Cottage in Fallbrook, enjoying lunch enroute, and then onto Inspirations Quilt Shop in Valley Center. A grand time was had by all and it was declared unanimous: "One can never have too much fabric!" Seasons Quilters are a diverse group from beginners to seasoned quilters, with many members bringing with them individual projects. Sewing together has become time we all look forward to and we enjoy welcoming new members. Meeting every first and third Thursday in the Arts & Crafts Room from 10 am to 4 pm, many of us enjoy additional time together for lunch in the Bistro. For more information about quilting, activities, fun projects and forming forever friendships through this wonderful hobby of quilting, stop by the Arts & Crafts Room and see what's sewing! We would love to meet you. All residents are welcome to meetings and excursions.
