| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2022 | 13 Library Committee As summer winds down, the hot days continue. Many people enjoy spending time at the pool and hot tub with a good book they found in our library. We have noticed an increase of returned books that have been water damaged. Once a book has taken a dip in the hot tub or pool, we can no longer display that book. The Library Committee gives you permission to recycle any book that has fallen into the water. The puzzles are a recent addition to our library collection. Through the generosity of our community, we have a huge collection of puzzles to share. When everything was shut down during the pandemic, the library was allowed to stay open for the well-being of our residents. It was during this time that the library was asked to manage the puzzles to allow residents access to the small collection of puzzles. We were only too happy to help out. The worst of the pandemic is over but the puzzles will remain in the library to allow residents access to them. Their former home, the Game Room, is a busy place with card games and small social activities that would restrict access to the puzzles. Our library is an honor system library. Please feel free to borrow the books but please return them for all residents to enjoy. As you wander the hardcover book shelves, notice how all of the books are displayed with their dust covers. When borrowing a hardcover book, please do not leave the dust cover in the library. Once the dust cover and the book are separated both the dust cover and the book are recycled. We do not have storage space to keep the dust covers. They are recycled. When the book is returned, it is also recycled because we no longer have the dust cover. Please feel free to open the cabinets under the paperback bins. We have a wonderful collection of non-fiction, biographies, large print and classic books. Happy reading! ~ Sue Corum I recently read the messages in the suggestion box. One resident asked if we could have at least one shelf of DVD movies on display. There are a ton of movies that you can borrow. Just go to the front desk and ask to see the availability list and take one home. Another resident asked us to remove the puzzles as they are "tacky." I understand. We are use to a pristine library room and they cannot be pristine. But - the amount of puzzles checked out speak for themselves. They win! ~ Cookie Call us for special rates on selling homes for our Four Seasons Hemet neighbors!
