Golf Cart Club
The Golf Cart Club has had a busy time. The Flag Angels posted flags three
times in the last five weeks: Memorial Day, Flag Day, and 4th of July. The Club also
sponsored the 4th of July Golf Cart Parade. The Parade was a huge success. Over
50 carts paraded (a July 4th record) and neighbors turned out in big numbers to
cheer on the participants. I want to recognize the people that made it a success:
Debbie and Cecil Frazier, with help from daughter Emilee and granddaughter Lily,
and Stella Torres and John Schilling hosted and provided libations and donuts. My
wife Donna was a big help with the goodies table! Russ Brown provided the parade
lead and also gave me a ride. Of course, Tracie Rodgers was a big help with her
blasts, maps, and posts! Yea Tracie! Finally, Tim the Four Seasons handyman, put
up the flags at the roundabout in front of The Lodge. Tim, I am going to make you
an honorary Flag Angel!
The Flag Angels' roster continues to undergo changes. We have had four "Angels"
retire after the 4th. Greg and Bev Rockvam and Cecil and Debbie Frazier. The
Fraziers and Rockvams were founding "Angels" and after 16 years they have hung up
their wings. Debbie and Larry Foster have also retired after Memorial Day. Cheryle
Patterson stepped up at the last moment to cover for Larry and Debbie Foster on
Memorial Day and then Ed and Maggie Coleman graciously agreed to take over their
route, and Morley and Jacque Wigley covered Cecil and Debbie route for Memorial
Day. It's nice to have such enthusiastic volunteers to step up on short notice.
As you can see, I am in constant need of help so if you want to help with the Flag
Angels, please call me at (951) 973-4149 or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com. ~
