38 | THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2022 | CLUB NEWS
The Colony Cousins Genealogy Club's program for August is
"Options for Publishing Genealogical Research." Our meeting
will be on Tuesday, Aug. 9, at 1 pm in the Annex, and our
speaker will be one of our own, our Acting President Leonide
(Lennie) Martin, who is an award-winning author and has had
much publishing experience.
Lennie's publishing background spans 50 years and includes
all three main forms of publishing — traditional, self-
publishing, and hybrid publishing. Her presentation will cover
these three forms, how to choose which approach is best for
you, and considerations in preparing genealogical research for
publication.
Lennie has written nursing text books as well as popular
health books and historical fiction novels. Her latest book is
a narrative nonfiction genealogy, Upriver Families: Acadian
Roots and Creole Heritage, a story tracing the heritage of her
paternal grandmother back 400 years, and will be published
in August. Lennie is a retired California State University
professor, with a Master of Science from UCLA and Doctorate
in Public Health from UC Berkeley. Currently, she works as an
editor and ghostwriter.
Please arrive at 12:45 pm to sign in. Visitors are always
welcome, and if they wish, to join our club. For information,
call Lennie Martin at (503) 269-9987.
