42 | THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2022 | CLUB NEWS On July 1, the Paddle Tennis players met for the monthly tournament. The tournament and breakfast were hosted by Mary Crockett and Kris Smith. They provided a beautifully decorated table with a huge assortment of fruit and pastries and cans of Guayaki Yerba Mate. What a treat! The highlight of the table was a board of quotes by famous tennis players. The quote that best applies to members of The Colony Racquet Club is by Venus Williams. "My motto is: I'm alive, so that means I can do anything." Well said! With Ellen's always even draw, the competition was strong, and all the matches were close. At the end of the tournament, Colleen Ray, in the Ladies Division, and Tom McClure, in the Men's Division, were the winners. But, as we all know, anyone out on the court as this stage of our lives is a winner. On July 9, we gathered to celebrate the winners and participants of the Paddle Tennis Tournament. Lou Ann Campbell, Gloria Tremolini and Jeanne Bender hosted what was a fantastic event. Keeping with the "Luau" theme, they entertained us with two very popular Colony groups. Cece Gordon 's Hawaiian Dancers were accompanied by The Colony Strummers. A lot of TCRC members belong to both groups and, as usual, the entertainment was "kupanaha." Thanks to Lou Ann, Gloria and Jeanne for a great evening. Aloha. Ellen Micheli and Gwenn Ryan hosted the July Ladies Luncheon on Wednesday, July 13. It was a Patriotic theme, so everyone wore red, white and blue. Racquet Club By Tom McClure, 303-7838 Colleen Ray and Tom McClure Cece Gordon's Hawaiian Dancers performed for a delighted Racquet Club group
