| THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2022 | 25 By Sharon Boll, 951-399 8271 or 951-600-2579 Do you plan on preparing Thanksgiving dinner at home? Would you be willing to welcome a young Marine from Camp Pendleton into your home to share your meal? Most of these young Marines are in Basic Training and this is their first Thanksgiving away from home. We now need volunteers to be a host family. Hosting Marines has become a tradition at The Colony, and they are most grateful to have the day off base to share in a home-cooked meal. The bus will pick up the Marines at 9 am at Pendleton, so they will arrive at the Clubhouse at approximately 10:30 am, where you will pick them up. They will really enjoy Thanksgiving with you and your family, and then you will return them to the Clubhouse by 4 pm for their return to Pendleton. Each family may host up to two Marines. Many times, they do not have enough host families, and then you may have more than two if you wish. Our bus will hold 55. We will need host families for the whole bus. If you wish to make Thanksgiving Day a special day for a Marine – or maybe two – give me a call. You'll be happy you did, and so will your guest Marines! Give me a call by Friday, Aug 1, if you would like to be a host family. You will also need to formally register at the Base (information to follow). You could make a big difference to someone away from home for the first time! If anyone would like to co-chair this event with me, please call me at either number above. anksgiving With A Marine: Hosts Needed
