At our Sunshine meeting in June, we were fortunate to have a representative from the Merv Griffin Child Help Village here in Beaumont speak to us about the Village. Sherry Bogh, Community Relations Director of Child Help, spoke to us about the Village, its occupants, the therapeutic care it provides for severely abused and neglected children, its goals and its needs. One of the things we learned was that Child Help can use donations of gently used luggage so that when a child is ready to leave their facility it will be with more than a trash bag to carry their belongings. If anyone here in Solera can help the Sunshine to fulfill this need, please contact Diane at (949) 295-1097. The Sunshine Club is continuing its recycling activities as usual. We accept all plastic water, juice and tea drink bottles, with caps removed and labels securely attached to their containers, as well as all aluminum cans (for which you paid the redemption fee. Each recyclable item must be clearly imprinted on its label or side with the words CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND. Please be aware that plastic containers such as milk, Clorox, peanuts, etc., for which you have not paid the CRV fee, are not recyclable and should be put in your appropriate Waste Management Cans. SUNSHINE CLUB | LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2022 | 31 QUILTERS We meet each Monday at 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. Our quilters have kept very busy with many projects in July. Looking forward to August, new demonstrations are scheduled and some of our members will go to the Long Beach Quilt show. A few of our ladies are making "Fidgit" quilts. Nursing homes request these to keep patient hands busy. These quilts are embellished with items such as zippers that can be opened and closed, pockets that are able to be buttoned and unbuttoned and other items that can be attached. It's nice to be able to provide these items as needed. Our "show and share" time has become very special to all who attend. We are a caring group of ladies who share more than quilting ideas. We welcome new residents who are interested in quilting to join us. A few gals have joined who had never made a quilt and are so happy to be able to share their handiwork with all. Happy August!
