| LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2022 | 3 FROM THE BOARD By Marcia Casem August is upon us, already. Many of us will be taking vacations, visiting families and friends, or having a staycation right here in Solera Oak Valley Greens. One fun and relaxing thing many of us enjoy is lounging around the swimming pool and taking a dip to stay cool. Some will swim laps and some will stand in the shallow end and just enjoy conversations with friends. Then it's 10 am and other residents join the fun and sun with their grandchildren and other guests. The kids like to run and jump in the pool and see how high they can splash the water. Some like to bring other water toys and floats. They love splashing, screaming, and having lots of fun. You can't blame them, it's summer vacation for them too, and it's hot, and swimming is so much fun! We, the residents, are responsible for our guests. There are rules posted for everyone's safety and should be read. Every resident must sign in upon entering the pool area. For the safety of the children, there is NO running, NO jumping, or NO diving in the pool. For the safety of all, everyone needs to shower off prior to entering the pool or spa. A resident must always accompany all guests in the pool area. Anyone under the age of 16 is not permitted in the spa. NO swim diapers are permitted, regardless of age. NO glass bottles permitted. And remember not everyone has the same taste of music, loud or soft, so play your music so only you enjoy it, while others enjoy theirs. We need to remember we do not have lifeguards on duty. Our Monitors are not the pool police. They are there to assist, not control. They should not have to tell your young guests to stop jumping in the pool, etc. They should not have to tell your young guests that it is 2 pm and time to leave the pool area. However, they will do their best to enforce these rules. Remember, the monitors are younger than we are, and yet we expect them to ask adults older than themselves to follow our rules. We are asking them to do our job. We hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the summer! Thank you.
