| LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2022 | 27 For most of our 16+ years we have been maintaining a community troop bulletin board. When I first started posting articles, letters, photos and emails, I did a terrible job. Once I turned the work over to someone else, the board became suitable to view. Joanne Brooks has been taking care of the board for quite a few years. Joanne is a neighbor and she also pre-packs various items into ziplock bags. By putting hard candy, hot drink mixes, instant oatmeal packs, greeting cards, writing packs, etc. into bags, they are easy to package and easy for the service member to retrieve from the delivered package. Joanne is a very unique person. She is one of a very few, that is completely computer free. She volunteers much of her time to the the Merv Griffin Child Help Ranch in Beaumont. She also assists with a battered woman's group, and supports, monetarily, several charities. The troop board that is likely to still be up at the first of the month, is not all that attractive. That is because it doesn't have but one photo. For this past Fourth of July, I sent out a lot of messages to service men and women that we haven't supported in a long time. I received messages back from quite a few. If you get a chance, during the first few days of the month, stop by and read a few of their replies.
