| LIFE IN SOLERA | AUGUST 2022 | 35 The Men's Golf Club had their away tournament at the San Vicente Resort in Ramona, CA June 20 - 22. It was a great outing with golf on a course that is in perfect condition. San Vicente Resort treated the participants like they were members of their club. When not playing golf, we relaxed in the hospitality suite that was provided to our group. We missed Richard and Bev Crowe as they, unfortunately, were Covid positive. They were keeping up with the Karaluns who couldn't go last year due to Jim being in the hospital with Covid. The group could not keep up with the Foley's (Dale and Maria) who walked off with the winning honors. I will say the first day they did receive help from Tom Hamerla and Dave Sampson in the 4 Person 2 Better Ball tournament but Maria saved Dale on the second day with her outstanding putting. Jim Karalun and Rick Cronholm came in second in the Two-Person Scramble. Nona Bradd enjoyed the course with Glenn and rode with him each day. Gary and Brenda Stange, Jerry Stearn and Tony Smith could not play up to the Foley group winning scores and neither could Merele, Glenn, Rick and Jim on that first day. Golf ended early both days so we met up at the hospitality suite to have a drink and review the day's play. Merele Chapman supplied soda, beer and snacks for the group. After the first day of golf everyone enjoyed pizza and salad in the resort's reception room. Pickleball, walking/hiking trails and a nice pool with lots of shade were available to all at the resort and several wives took advantage of those amenities. The town of Ramona for antique shopping, and Barona Casino for gambling, were both close by. In addition to being treated well, the resort provided $4 vouchers for each person all three days that could be used toward breakfast, lunch or dinner. There were lots of great comments about how nice everything was at San Vicente. Everyone said they had a wonderful time and would choose San Vicente again for an away golf trip. GOLF CLUB
