Update on the saga of the female Mallard featured in June's issue of Life in Solera: she's
back at the Crowe's nest! Momma Mallard returned and laid a second clutch of eggs.
Richard Crowe took the photo above on July 4 as she calmly sat on her nest. The nest is in
exactly the same spot as the previous three: 10 feet from the front door in a thick patch of
maidenhair ferns. The camera was at ground level and about 16" from the nest.
