Doors open at 5:15 pm (all Sun Lakers are welcome). We're going to take our trip to Hawaii with Sun Lakes fabulous Hawaiian dancers. We all love to see the grace and talent this group brings to us. Of course, EVERYONE wear your Hawaiian outfits and your leis as we will be giving a prize for the most original attire! Also, we are having a drawing for three $10 gift cards to the Sun Lakes restaurant! Thomas Catering will be serving Hawaiian chicken, rice and stir fry vegetables, fruit salad, Hawaiian rolls and butter, AND lemon meringue and coconut cream pie for dessert! What could be better for our Luau? Social Singles dues are $15 per year. Because of the increase cost of food, we will now be charging $20 for dinner. Guests living outside of Sun Lakes and are friends of a resident will be $24 per person. If you live in Sun Lakes you may come as a guest one time only, and then you WILL WANT to join the club. Make checks payable for next month's dinner reservations to Social Singles and drop them off at Barbara Semic's home, 2299 Wailea Beach Dr., (951) 769-9809, or put your check and reservation in the basket on the back table at the meeting. Membership dues and applications should be made out to Social Singles and dropped off at Maggie Kline's home, 650 Brooklawn Dr. (Northside). You may also put your membership check in the basket on the back table at the meeting. We are now having open seating so you may sit wherever you like with your friends. BUS TRIPS As you know, our dear friend Dorothy Rowe was arranging for us to go on day trips with Silver Linings Travel. I have contacted the owner and while you can get reservations directly from him, it would be great if we went with our friends on the trips. Join us for a day at the races. Includes admission to the Clubhouse Reserve, program and eight races. Sunset Luau at Catamaran Resort, Mission Bay, San Diego. Tues., Aug. 9, $150. The annual Sunset Luaus are a festive celebration of Polynesian food, music and dance. Diana Ross at the Hollywood Bowl, Fri., Aug. 26, $120. One of the greatest entertainers of all time returns to the legendary Hollywood Bowl to perform a memorable concert under the stars! Bring a picnic lunch! Julian's Grape Stomp at Menghini Winery, Sat., Sept. 3, $105. Escape for the day to this quaint, early 1900s mining town. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of this famous Grape Stomp where you can have a glass of wine and enjoy the old world tradition of rolling up your pant legs and letting tons of grapes squish beneath your feet! Spreading Sunshine Social Singles The August general meeting of the Sun Lakes Art League is Sun., Aug. 14 at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. Carol Cole will give a collage demonstration. In addition, a mini-art show will be held and members are invited to bring art to share with the membership. Part of the August meeting will be dedicated to the discussion of transitioning the positions for a new President and Vice-President. Vice-President Lori Worby-Krebs has sold her home and is moving to Santa Clarita to be closer to her children and grandchildren, and President Sharon Salcido, will be moving in the near future.
