Audience participants were provided with grass skirts and given a hula lesson from Makua Hula member Chelle Hyde. With instructions given and practiced, District 3 members enjoyed a memorable dance experience. We thank you, District 3, for inviting us to perform at your event. We were also proud to perform during the Fourth of July BBQ in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Now is the perfect time to consider becoming part of the Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers. What makes the Makua Hula Hawaiian group exceptional is the diversity in its membership and there is no pressure or expectation to perform. We welcome new members and encourage you to take a leap and give Hawaiian dance a try. Some have joined Makua simply for the exercise that dancing movements bring and/or the social interaction with friends. Currently, the Makua Hula Hawaiian dancers are in the early stage of learning new dances for upcoming shows. Those who are comfortable performing do so under the leadership of dance instructor, Perla Williams. Please come and join us on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm in the North Clubhouse, and/or on Saturdays from 8 to 10 am at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers are available to perform at SLCC social events in addition to outside venues. If you are interested in having us perform at your next event, contact Perla Williams for more information at (951) 467-8339. ICC Two classes that many of you may want to consider are being given by the Stardust Dancers at the South Clubhouse. They are geared for single dancers who do not have partners at social events. We will teach solo cha-cha on Aug. 7, 4-6 pm. This class is taught by Rene Rivera, a competitive pro, assisted by Evelyn Hawkins. Both men and women welcome. On Aug. 28, 2-4 pm, Evelyn will give instruction on all of the Line Dances done at our weekend socials: Electric Slide, Cuban Shuffle, New York, Black Velvet. Please wear secure and comfortable shoes. No sandals or flip flops. Everyone is welcome. For more info or to make a reservation, call (951) 845-7199 or text (951) 616-4542. Stardust Dancers
