AUGUST'S DOG DAYS OF SUMMER FINDS YCC WITH TWO
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
On Wed., Aug. 10, at 7 pm, in the South
Clubhouse please join the YCC as we present
Readers Theater, directed by Harriet Briant and
starring your very own YCC members as they
perform several Yiddish-themed plays. Readers
Theatre is a unique genre where the actors read
the script. Lines are not memorized and the
actors must use their voices and gestures to act out the plays. Which
Goldberg? is a comedy based upon two women attending a funeral
for Mr. Goldberg, but they are not sure which Mr. Goldberg has died.
The next play, Edda & Ida at Starbucks, laughingly focuses on two
women trying to order coffee but the ladies do not know how. Lastly,
Chanukah Santa finds a confused man wearing a Christmas costume
to a Chanukah Party. This event is free for YCC members, $3 for
guests. No reservations are required.
Later in the month, YCC will host the very popular Challah Bake
on Sat., Aug. 20, at 1 pm in the South Clubhouse. Who doesn't love
Challah French toast? Our YCC President, Ellie Fixman, will instruct
participants step by step so that each baker will be able to create a
masterpiece challah. All ingredients and utensils will be supplied so
that we all assemble the loaf together, but then take it home and bake
it in your own oven. Voilá! You now have a warm, delicious, delectable
bread that can be savored. Marilyn Forhane will provide information
on food safety as your dough rises. Please note that you can keep all
utensils provided. Cost is $12 for members, $15 for guests. Money
is due by Aug. 13. Please deliver your check made out to YCC to
Maryanne Kirschbaum at 1942 Fairway Oaks.
Please notify Marilyn Forhane, YCC's Sunshine Board Member,
at (951) 845-9455 (mfor18@gmail.com) if you know anyone who
should receive a get-well or sympathy card.
Notify Diane Stone, VP Programs, at (951) 769-0130 (swmbo3@
gmail.com) if you have program ideas or want to borrow one of the
DVDs from the YCC Library.
Diane Berley, Membership VP, at (818) 943-6457 (berley52@aol.
com) wants to hear about any changes in your contact information and
will answer any questions about membership. Our new membership
year began on July 1 and dues are $20 per person.
