Regularly scheduled play days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4 to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. On occasion, our scheduled sessions may get canceled due to other events held in the Ballroom. Please check the Sun Lakes website at sunlakescc.com and click on "Community Info" then "Clubs and Group List," finally click on "Ping Pong Group" for up-to-date play schedule or check the Main Clubhouse events board across from the reception desk. There are no fees or dues as our tables and all our equipment are provided free by our Recreation Department. Laced tennis shoes are required to play - no exceptions! FEATURED PLAYER: ROGER NGO Roger has lived in SLCC for seven months. He got involved in Ping Pong when he and his wife Rachael saw the article in the Sun Lakes Lifestyles Magazine. Rachael encouraged Roger to give it a try and he's been playing ever since. Roger also enjoys working out at the gym and playing Pop Tennis. Roger and Rachael moved to Sun Lakes from South Bay, Los Angeles after Roger's retirement. Roger shares that he is originally from Viet Nam and came to the U.S. in 1975 as a teenager. Table Tennis/Ping Pong Hope everyone had a fun and safe Fourth of July. After a week off we are now back to fun and competitive bowling. Have you heard about the new Phantom League? I just heard about it and sounds like fun. Ask at the desk or ask Dave about it. No one can catch up to the Brooklyn Bombers. This team has been in first place most of the summer - they are Ed Sterger, Connie Matty, Louise Deal, and Tom Tykodi). In the Heat is chasing the Bombers and are only two games back. They are Jon Skaggs, Lil Mclean, Bob Mclean and Mike Sheptenko. Right behind them are Optimist with Caroline Gagnon, Leo Gagnon, Bonna Green and Jerry Kelly. Season High Scores are: for the Men, Jon Skaggs has High Handicap Series with 763, Barney Toro has High Handicap Game with 271, Andy Toro has High Scratch Series with 678 and Ray Roberson has High Scratch Game with 246. Season High Score for the Women are: Kathy Duerr has High Handicap Series with 721, Kristi Herring has High Handicap Game with 271, Sally Flesher has High Scratch Series with 553 and Theresa Frelix has High Scratch Game with 219. What did one romantic pin say to the other? "Let's never split." Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes POP Tennis POP Tennis, formerly known as Paddle Tennis is a fun, fast sport that can be enjoyed by people at all fitness levels. Though played on a smaller court, with a different paddle and 20 percent deflated tennis balls, POP Tennis is otherwise scored and regulated like traditional tennis. POP Tennis is played on the courts to the left of the Main Clubhouse on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 to 10 am (spring/summer hours). Additionally, there is a group that plays Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 3 pm and Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. People are free to come and go as their schedules permit. All are welcome and there are always friendly folks to teach beginners the game! Paddles and balls are provided too.
