| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2022 | 67 From Courtney, the publisher: Last month I asked for more "Expressing Gratitude" submissions and boy did you come through! I have a feeling that in Sun Lakes, it's not hard to find and spotlight the good around you. And I really appreciate those who did. I think it's easier to complain, though. We're egocentric bipeds of a certain age and like things the way we like them. For example, when the temperature in my office gets above 79°, I'll announce that "I'm dying." Then I get on the Nest app on my phone and turn it down to 75°. Four degrees between dying and happy is a ridiculously short drive. Turning off the water when I brush my teeth to conserve that resource is something I grumbled about. Then I looked at the water as it was running and thought, how amazing is it that we have clean water on command? Conclusion? We're blessed. Focusing on those blessings opens our eyes to other blessings. To sum up a brilliant parable, feed the good wolf. Please send more gratitudes. And if you're too hot, or too cold, remember that you live in a place where that's a solvable problem. Now back to the Get the Joke stuff: To win a free dinner, find the ad, article or just weird, out-of-place, completely made-up (and hopefully funny) item in this month's Lifestyles. When you find it, fill out the box below and (new!) EMAIL IT TO sunlakesnews@yahoo.com before noon on the sixth of the month. If you are the first correct guess chosen at random, you will win a free dinner. Good luck! Congratulations to this month's Dinner Winner: JAN SANDBERG Please call Kelly in the Admin. Office for your Sun Lakes Restaurant dinner. Can I get one in a good color? I think preying mantis green would look swell! Barbara C. Sounds more like a PROTEST attractor than a stick it to 'em. They'll be on that like flies on ****. Margaret. W. At $7 a gallon it sounds like a great idea! Deborah L. With gas prices soooo high I may consider this… I'll check the CC&Rs first of course! This joke was even more funny as the power in all of Sun Lakes is out… Energy independence needed here! Fortunately my Lifestyles magazine had just arrived! Sharon R. Good idea, I can disguise the top part as a pink flamingo pecking the ground and our HOA might accept it! Emily P. Always funny. Ron S. Too funny. But oil rigs might keep the coyotes away from our yards. Nora B. The same law allows a vote by residents to convert the Main Clubhouse and golf course property into an oil refinery which could provide both income for Sun Lakes and fuel for the diesel trucks coming to the warehouse. Victor G. What a concept! Sue H. Sounds like a good idea… but, do they have oil rigs to rent? I guess I could manage it with a very sturdy shovel… Laurie W. Just what I always wanted. Bernice S. An oil well will go nicely with the small rental house in the backyard. Gerald I. If it will help with the price of gas, bring it on. I love oil wells! Jeanne M. Love this every month, it makes my day. Jan S. Will check with the HOA. Jean B. your comments: GET THE JOKE! I found the joke! Resident name (first & last): ________________________________________ This was the joke: _______________________________________________ Comments (we LOVE your notes - about anything!): _______________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ Send your entry to sunlakesnews@yahoo.com or drop it at the Main Clubhouse OUR ADVERTISERS ARE Payment for the production of Lifestyles (and the reason it's free to homeowners) is due to the generous support of our advertisers. Please thank them by visiting their place of business or calling them first whenever you need their service or product. THE BEST! Last month's joke: BECOME ENERGY INDEPENDENT! DRILL YOUR OWN OIL! California State Law EI46 recently passed and allows you to convert your front and back yards into oil fields! Plus you will save water after you rip out all your plants! Stick it to those greedy fat cat gas overlords - get an oil rig today!
