4 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2022 | • Permits have taken extraordinarily long to obtain. We are still waiting on the grading permit for the lake, delaying our access to well water. • Sod was difficult to source, and its quality was a challenge. • The Board authorized the bulk purchase of seed in advance due to its dwindling availability. • Reconstructed greens use a sand base, and there is an unavoidable settling and compaction process which occurs. This creates small depressions which require filling and reseeding. We have had major delays in obtaining seed for this purpose. • Prolonged delays in receiving as-built diagrams from the contractor have made it impossible to reconnect the periphery of the golf course to irrigation, resulting in the death of trees and other landscaping. The good news is that if our grow-in continues its progress through proper performance of our irrigation system and favorable weather conditions, we hope to be able to open the front nine by Labor Day. We have begun construction of the electrical supply to the well and the lake as you may have noticed from the activity along Leisure Village Way and in the park. The back nine will remain closed for now due to that construction and the anticipated creation of the lake. It will open only on completion. We are currently soliciting bids for the replacement of a major portion of our HVAC system in the Clubhouse. Our systems will provide more uniform temperatures and healthier air once these changes are made. The Board met in executive session on July 18th and in their Regular Monthly meeting on July 21. The actions taken at those meetings were not yet known at publication deadline and will be reported in September. A reminder that our Regular Monthly Meeting for August will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 17 rather than the usual Thursday. And the Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18 and will be in person as well as via Zoom, live stream video, and closed-circuit television. By now, each eligible voter should have received a ballot with the names of the three candidates for the three available terms: Ann Collins, Scott Goldwasser and Jay Kuhlman. We are required to approve their candidacies with our votes, and the minimum required for a quorum is 817 ballots. If you have not already done so, please mark your ballot and return it promptly. It may be mailed (preaddressed and postage prepaid) to the inspector of elections or dropped in the ballot box at the Clubhouse. Please remember to sign the front of the envelope. Thank you for your continued interest in the affairs of your Association! President's Message, continued from previous page
