| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 9 Communication & Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC) The consequence of poor communication between the HOA Board and the homeowners of an HOA community can lead to residents taking matters to their own hands to 'inform' neighbors with rumors, half-truths, and 'good old-fashioned gossip.' Naturally, the initial 'buzz-word' gets twisted and turned until the entire community is enveloped in a full-blown spiraling tornado of half-truths, rumors, and gossip, which decimates all truth as well as trust, and the true meaning of community: COMMON UNITY! Rumors, half-truths, and gossip are substantially mitigated when homeowners understand how to find the facts on any community issue. The Communication & Technology Advisory Committee supports using multiple communication "tools" to make sure that "facts" are disseminated on a timely basis and that members know how to access that information. Currently, members have several ways of keeping informed on business decisions being made by the Board of Directors. Some of the things you can do to keep informed include: • Attending Open Session Board Meetings (third Wednesday at 6:30 pm), • Using the Message to Management feature accessible on the www. SoleraOVG.com website, • Reviewing minutes for Board and Committee meetings that can also be accessed via the Solera website, • Making sure that you go to the website and register for the "eBlast" system so you can get important information emailed to you on a regular basis. The Solera Communications & Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC) strongly support these communication methods and is doing what it can to optimize them. In addition, CTAC is also looking at: • Installing digital signage in key areas in the clubhouse and • Developing a texting service for those who have a cellphone. Such a service can benefit participants especially when it is important to communicate urgent or emergency information. STAY TUNED! ~ Dennis Rice, Chairperson CTAC Presents Surf the Web: Our Solera Website The www.SoleraOVG.com website has served us well over the years and is a complex system with an abundance of information for its users. However, the Communications & Technology Advisory Committee (CTAC) is always looking for ways of making improvements to our many communication "tools" and will be looking at ways to make improvements to our website as well. Emphasis will be placed on the following: • Ease of access and navigation – Ease of access and simple navigation are of utmost importance to the Solera community. We want to make it as easy as possible for users to gain access to the website and be able to get to the information they want as expeditiously as possible. • Attractiveness – It is important that the website be attractive to potential buyers and a site with which residents can be "proud." • Ease of Maintenance – It is critical that maintenance to the website be as easy as possible to facilitate and the site be kept current. Our website contains many features that will require frequent and timely updates. The capability to complete these updates in an online and expeditious manner by Solera residents or employees is a must. • New Features – The CTAC is also considering the addition of a few new features to the website including the possibility of a Management Blog, a link where members can register to receive text messages, a link to a professional video production that shows our community and all the amenities available, and others. If you would like to be a part of the team and use your creative talents to help with this project as well as the many others we are considering, let us know. ~ Dennis Rice, Chairperson
