The Sunshine Club is continuing to collect donations of gently used luggage for the children of the Childhelp Merv Griffin Village, so that when a child is ready to leave their facility, it will be with more than a trash bag to carry their belongings. In addition, we are also collecting toilet articles, for example, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc., to be included in personal kits for each child when they arrive. If you can help the Sunshine Club by donating these items, please let us know. The Sunshine Club is continuing its recycling activities as usual. We accept all plastic water, juice and tea drink bottles, with caps removed and labels securely attached to their containers, as well as all aluminum cans (for which you paid the redemption fee). Each recyclable item must be clearly imprinted on its label or side with the words CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND. Please be aware that plastic containers such as milk, 100 percent juices, Clorox, peanuts, coffee and mouthwash, as well as metal cans other than aluminum for which you have not paid the CRV fee, are not recyclable and should be put in your appropriate Waste Management cans. If you are someone who believes in putting "Sunshine" back in the lives of others, we would love to have you join our friendly, lively group of residents. Our Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month at 2 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. If you have any questions about our Club or its activities, please contact Judy Charlick at (951) 769-6465. SUNSHINE CLUB | LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 27 QUILTERS We meet each Monday at 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. New residents who share an interest in quilting are welcome. Demonstrations from our talented ladies continues. Lindy showed our group how to make "clothesline" baskets of various sizes and shapes. Look for some of these to appear at our Craft Fair. Joann treated us to a viewing of her Memory Quilt which touched everyone's memories and hearts. Many of our ladies traveled by bus to the Long Beach Quilt Show. Those attending reported seeing a variety of gorgeous fabric art quilts. Of course, the vendors there were visited by many members who came home with bags of goodies. A local quilt shop had a recent "Birthday Party" in August and several of our gals took advantage of deep discounts and will be enjoying new sewing machines this month. We are a caring, supportive group of ladies who are willing and able to share our stories and talents with each other. All are welcome.
