| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 7
The city of Beaumont has a Dark Sky Ordinance. Solar and low-voltage landscape and path lights in the front yard
can have a 12V incandescent equivalent per bulb. Lights cannot shine into the sky. Be aware of TV ads selling lighting
to 'light your pathway.' Most of them did not meet this standard.
Motion-detector security lighting are allowed, provided there is no light trespass and illuminated with a maximum
of two light bulbs of no more than 600 lumens per bulb.
Anything done on the outside of your home requires a Home Improvement application. The application should
include diagrams, location, photos, size, shape, color, dimensions, or materials being used. The Home Improvement
application requires two neighboring homeowners to sign the application prior to submission to the Design Review
Committee (DRC). Selected homeowners may be those within three lots in any direction, as well as in front or directly
behind your property.
The DRC encourages you to read the guidelines before you buy or complete your exterior home improvement. In the
event that any modification is proceeding without proper approval, the Committee shall exercise enforcement remedies
including, without limitation, ordering the immediate cessation of all work.
If it is found that an improvement was not completed in accordance with the approved Home Improvement
application, the homeowner will be notified in writing of the violation within 30 days of the inspection date. Should
a homeowner fail to correct a violation for which they are notified, the Board of Directors has the right to follow
established enforcement procedures.
