WELCOME TO THE JEWISH NEW YEAR 5783 FROM THE YCC
Beginning at sundown on Sun., Sept. 25, Jews around the world
will begin to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Rosh
Hashanah literally translates to the "head of the year" in Hebrew and
is considered a day for Jews to remember both the highs and lows
of the past year, and look to how they may improve in the New Year.
The YCC will happily celebrate this joyous holiday on Wed., Sept.
14 with a traditional Rosh Hashanah catered dinner along with the
wonderful entertainment of Jamestown. Starting at 6 pm in the
South Clubhouse, our members will dine while enjoying a variety of
songs from the Great American song book. Sheila and Larry James,
the artists that make up Jamestown, will also delight us with a sing-a-
long from The Fiddler on the Roof. Who can ever forget the first time
they heard "Sunrise Sunset" and "Matchmaker?"
The dinner will include the traditional fare of challah and of
course matzoh ball soup and gefilte fish, along with main courses
of chicken and tri tip beef, vegetables, rosemary red potatoes, and
pound cake with strawberry topping for dessert. Coffee and water
will be available, however please feel free to BYOB.
The cost is $22 per person for members and $27 per person for
guests. Payment is due by Sept. 7. Please deliver your check made
out to YCC to Maryanne Kirschbaum's home at 1942 Fairway Oaks
Drive.
