16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2022 | Marketing & Communications Advisory The Marketing and Communications Advisory Committee continues producing numerous videos every month. We have added a new segment called "Did You Know?" hosted by Beverly Simmons. She will be covering some of the rules and regulations we all must live by in Sun Lakes. We also produce a segment called "News from the Board." This segment features Bob Walter and another board member discussing what they are working on. Hernan Rojas has been keeping the Sun Lakes website up to date. The website continues to expand with the information you need. If you have not visited the website, please go to SunLakesCC.com. On the home page, you will see a short video on how to log onto the member's side of the website. If you have problems with logging on, please contact Hernan and he will be glad to help you. His phone number is in the front of this magazine. You will find the latest information that includes your house account statement, restaurant menus, events, and entertainment. Plus, there is a ton of information from the many clubs and groups. Soon you will be able to schedule your tee times and order food from the Restaurant from your phone or computer. ~ Bob Murri Sun Lakes Committee Reports Recreation Advisory What has the Recreation Committee been up to in 2022? Let me tell you! We have had several vaccine clinics, an Activities Day in January, a Queen Nation concert, and a blood drive. Fritz Coleman even came and entertained us. One of our more popular events was a Spring Craft Show. In April, Classics of Rock & Roll played to one of the biggest audiences that we have had. Don't forget all those Ice Cream Socials! Community offerings included a health fair, shredding, and another blood drive. Many enjoyed beautiful summer evenings with Music on the Veranda and Music Under the Stars. What about that fabulous July 4th event? Many residents decorated carts and floats, showed off their cars, enjoyed a BBQ and played fun games for the whole family. What an exciting, enjoyable day. We are certainly a blessed community. How about Comedy Night, the indoor movie, the outdoor movie under the starlit sky? But we're not done yet. Upcoming events include a comedy night, more music on the Veranda, a Magic Show, a Murder Mystery event, and the famous Halloween Doggie Parade. Other favorites include the Fall Craft Fair, the Veterans Walk, the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, and the year's finale, a lovely New Year's Eve celebration. Is that enough? I think so. Hope to see you all at all these great events. ~ Patricia Elevi, (951) 850-3900 Safety Advisory Earlier this month, we had a golf cart fire on Pine Valley and Gleneagles. Supposedly the battery terminals sparked the fire which was put out by Cal Fire and Securitas. We all need to check our golf cart batteries and terminals at least quarterly. The fire did some asphalt and tree damage. Pedestrian gates have been left unsecured or open and need to be rechecked as residents exit or enter them. Our aggressive coyote is becoming more of a nuisance lately on the North Side especially and is getting in more patios. The Safety Committee is going to recommend to the Board that they have Animal Control relocate it. One homeowner has already relocated in Sun Lakes as it was continually getting in and chasing her little dog. Supposedly, the coyote is female and about to have babies as well. ~ Bill Bess, (951) 769-8022 Fall is almost here - Sept. 22 is the first day of fall. Can't believe how fast the summer has gone. But here in Sun Lakes, Tuesday Night Bingo is going strong. The bar and lounge are open to all from 3 to 8 pm. And we are so fortunate to have Thomas and Chef Chris create delicious new entrees for the players every week to enjoy before and while games are being played. Bar/lounge purchases with SL member card or a CC only. Come and check us out! Our game nights this month are Sept. 13, 20 and 27. Bring all your friends and neighbors, everyone is welcome. Many cash prizes and door prizes are won each week. Remember cash only - no checks or credit cards. Doors open at 4:30 pm and games start at 6 pm. Come and be part of the fun. Any questions? Call (951) 769-4579 (Toni) or (951) 797-3817 (Karen). Bingo Advisory Library Advisory The Library Committee needs volunteers for shelving in each clubhouse library. Several shifts are available to accommodate your schedule. For info, please get in touch with Jean Dobson at (909) 731-4113. Volunteers shelve books, and training is provided. We have many new westerns in addition to mysteries/thrillers, romances, non-fiction, large-print, and audio books. So, when you want to read or listen to a good book, come and browse our collections or see the new books first by volunteering to shelve occasionally! We accept some donations. Please consult the notices in each clubhouse for locations outside Sun Lakes where books can be donated.
